We decided to build this toolkit to provide an array of searchable resources for individuals or organizations interested in building their own art donation project or program (large or small, one time or ongoing). Whether there is a need for only a few sample documents or for help in launching a whole new art donation and placement program, this toolkit is designed to provide assistance.

The possible range and type of an art donation and placement project or program may extend from the donation of a single artwork to a group of individuals launching a new organization intended to sustain an ongoing art donation and placement program. Examples include but are not limited to:
- Individuals or artists donate a single work of art
- Individuals establish a one-time event, exhibition, or other model to distribute donated art
- Individuals create an ongoing art donation and placement program with no formal structure
- Individuals build an organization to support an ongoing art donation and placement program
- Existing organizations establish a one-time event, exhibition, or other model to distribute donated art
